Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This policy explains how Taka’s Sushi in White Rock, British Columbia handles personal information relating to this website and your inquiries, reservations and orders.

Information you share with us

When you contact us by phone or email, we may receive your name, contact details, preferred visit date, party size and the contents of your message. You may choose to share allergies or dietary needs so we can assess your request and discuss possible accommodations. Please share only what is needed for your inquiry.

This informational website does not have customer accounts or a contact form and does not itself accept payment-card details. Online orders and gift cards are handled through the external Lightspeed service linked from this site.

How we use information

We use information to respond to inquiries, arrange and confirm reservations, manage orders and gift-card requests, discuss dietary needs, and meet applicable business and legal obligations. Providing information for a request does not enrol you in a mailing list.

Service providers and external links

Our website is hosted through OpenAI’s ChatGPT Sites, with Cloudflare providing delivery and security services. We also use email and ordering providers to handle communications and requested transactions. Providers may process information outside Canada, where different privacy laws may apply.

Lightspeed ordering and gift cards, YouTube, Instagram and map links take you to, or connect you with, external services. Their own privacy terms apply to their processing. Information we receive from these services to fulfil your request is also covered by this policy.

Cookies and website technology

Our hosting and security providers may use cookies and technical logs to deliver this website and protect it against misuse. Technical information may include your IP address, browser details, requested pages and access times.

Google Analytics is optional and loads only after you select “Allow analytics”. It uses cookies and technical information about your browser, device, website visits and approximate location to help us understand how visitors use the website. Google may process this information outside Canada.

We count clicks on telephone, email and online ordering links. A click does not confirm a call, sent email, order or booking. Our event setup does not send enquiry message contents, names, contact details or dietary information to Google Analytics. Advertising tracking is not enabled.

Your analytics choice is stored on this browser for 180 days. Use “Cookie choices” in the footer to change your choice or withdraw permission for future analytics. Withdrawing permission does not erase information already collected. You can still use the website if you decline analytics.

YouTube videos are optional. Their preview images are hosted with this website, and the YouTube player loads only when you choose “Load YouTube video”. Playing a video connects your browser to YouTube/Google, which may process technical information and use cookies or similar technologies under its own privacy terms. You can browse without playing videos.

YouTube’s privacy-enhanced player reduces some personalisation; it does not prevent all data processing. You can manage cookies in your browser settings, although blocking hosting or security cookies may affect access.

Google and YouTube privacy information

Sharing and protection

We limit the use and disclosure of personal information to what is needed for the purposes described here, with your consent or as permitted or required by law. This may include service providers helping us fulfil your request. We are responsible for taking reasonable safeguards to protect information under our control against unauthorised access, use or disclosure.

How long information is kept

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here and applicable legal requirements. When it is no longer needed, it should be securely destroyed or de-identified. External providers have their own retention practices.

Your choices and privacy requests

You may request access to or correction of personal information under our control, ask about our practices, or raise a privacy concern. You may also withdraw consent with reasonable notice, subject to legal limits. We will explain if this affects our ability to fulfil your request. We may need to verify your identity before providing personal information.

Please contact our privacy contact below. We will review your request or complaint and respond in accordance with applicable law. If your concern remains unresolved, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
